Alabama and the nation
Alabama at a glance: 5 and 10 years
Fixed periods that don't move with the slider. All manufacturing, private sector. "Local edge" is what's left of Alabama's job change after taking out the national trend and its mix of industries: how Alabama's plants did against the same industries nationwide.
Before and after the new incentives
Growth is shown per year so periods of different length compare fairly. The timing of a law lining up with a change doesn't show that the law caused it: interest rates, the 2020 recession and company decisions made years earlier all play a part.
Industry trends: 5 and 10 years
What each category includes
Every manufacturing industry BLS tracks sits in exactly one category and one industry group, so together they add up to all of manufacturing. The small numbers are NAICS industry codes, the federal system BLS uses to classify businesses.
